Thoughts on Getting The Most Out of A Consultation

I have been doing astrology readings for more than 20 years and I have heard a lot of stories. I think I am privileged to know so many stories and experience the different ways that people handle life. When people turn to the occult, (tarot card readers, astrologers, channelers, or other intuitive practitioners) they are usually in a vulnerable mood. The traditional avenues of knowledge: priests, doctors, psychologists, teachers, parents, or friends, do not seem to speak to their exact problem or quest. This searching is a very good place to begin self knowledge. For self knowledge a person has to be open to influences from the physical, mental, as well as spiritual world. This feeling of being open will help a good practitioner be effective because he or she can influence a person on a deeper level than is standard. Occult practitioners can often get to the root of problems, and relieve the energy or imbalance that is causing them. An astrologer is not necessarily a healer but by studying a person’s chart and helping a person see the meaning behind current difficulties, self knowledge begins. We usually feel better when we know what is happening and why.

Too often, however, I feel that people abandon their common sense and sense of responsibility. They feel that an astrologer has a magic wand and will give them the green light for good luck, or winning the lottery, or finding the man or woman of their dreams. There is a saying in astrology that character is destiny. The same idea was expressed by the ancient Greeks: Know Thyself. When a person is in tune with his/her soul map, (another word for an astrology chart), or sense of purpose and character, then the occult arts can be valuable sources of information. Sometimes people are just beginning to know about their needs, desires, and purpose. In that case practitioners can help point the way. But in all readings a person must take personal responsibility. You must realize that if the planets indicate a lucky win and you have a tendency to gamble or dissipate yourself, the lucky winning is not going to amount to much.

Romantic relationships are a big part of my work. Will he call? Does she love me? Should I divorce? These questions are important but even more important are the reasons: foolish, wise, mundane, and or karmic that you hooked up together. Sometimes, people have relationships that are not easy because they have unfinished business with a person. In that case, your job is to transform the energy between you so that you do not keep repeating a pattern. No matter what the dynamics are, you are the keeper of your flame and happiness.

Consult occult practitioners for their wisdom and experience, rather than to avoid an unpleasant situation or to reinforce a fantasy. And lastly, you pay a practitioner to represent to you the most positive outcomes possible. Fate is an elastic concept and anyone who reads a chart, or cards, or channels and comes up with a totally dire, negative reading is not a practitioner who is adding to the light. Avoid these people.

An astrological perspective of the past 2 weeks: April 23-May 7

The heavens have been busy! We have had a number of tense planetary aspects operating and, all things considered, I think the world has done well. Perhaps, you have felt upheaval in your personal world as some signs have felt more of this distress than others.

When I say this to people they feel they have been singled out for doom. I have noticed, after being an astrologer for more than 20 years, that the stars are equal opportunity. Each sign, each chart, each person has their turn at easy times and tough times. Don't feel cursed. If someone is skating through this time period, they will have challenges ahead. And if you are struggling, the tides will change and life will calm down.

Basically, we are experienceing transits (the relationships between planets) that are helping the entire planet evolve. That is the big picture. We can no longer cling to an outmoded way of conducting our lives. New structures, new business practices, and new governments must emerge. But the old style has a powerful grip. We like consistency and we like familiarity. If every person could take a few moments, breathe, feel centered, and affirm CHANGE, I think we each could start to move with the tide instead of struggling against it.

The practice of centering yourself can been looking at a flower, exhaling, humming a tune, or just feeling satisfied. Encouraging these moments give us all islands of pleasure (and sanity) in a fast paced, confusing world. Cherish small moments and larger ideas will come.

Back to the stars: this particular stress pattern is moving out. Mercury will straighten out on May 11th, and the new moon on May 13th, begins a new cycle of energy.

Things are evolving....after all, we are creating civilization.

What is an Astrology Chart?

The ancients used Astrology to navigate the seas and through observation they noticed patterns of behavior and personality according to the birth positions of a person's planets on the day, time, year, and place. Now, centuries later, astrology is still fascinating and can be your guide to navigate through all parts of your life. A new romance, marriage, a professional opportunity, money outlook, information about your children and family, health, travel and creativity are all areas with which an astrology reading can help you. Basically, an astrology chart outlines the joys and sorrows in each person's life. Luckily, the chart can tell us how to emphasize the joy so the sorrow shrinks. And, I specialize in good news!

You may say but I read my horoscope every day and it is only occasionallyright or interesting. The horoscopes in the newspapers are only part of the picture. In addition to the Sun sign (usually known as your sign) each person has the Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto which may be in different astrological signs. The position of the Sun is important but it isn't the whole story. When you go to an astrologer he or she will show you how all the planets are working together or hindering each other. And then how your chart is influenced by the current motion of the planets in the heavens. The best use of astrology is to show you how you can move with the planets' tides and maximize the positive placements in your chart.

I love people who say "I don't believe in astrology." I say, "don't believe in it, just watch it work." For people who are going through major ups and downs a chart can tell you when things will smooth out. Also, if you meet a new person and want to get the inside story on him or her, comparing astrological charts will show you what to expect from that person and relationship. Health issues are another area where astrology can be useful. And astrology can give you some interpretations of your life's purpose what gives you the greatest joy.

I have been an astrologer for more than 20 years. I am not always right but with the stars guiding me I can offer you a clear pictureof all the facets of your personality and what life may offer you. An interesting week ahead. Fate?

We are now at the end of the lunar cycle and these next 2 days it is good to rest and chill out. New Moon on Wednesday will energize things soon enough.

People sometimes ask if everything in a person's chart is fated. And then the next question is, what about Free Will? I think that some things in life have a feeling that they are meant to be. But sometimes, we don't listen to those feelings, or sometimes we choose to go in a different direction. So, free will comes into play. Sometimes, we are lazy and say something was "meant to be" because we don't want to do something, or exercise self discipline. That third Margarita is usually not meant to be, but we say it is because we want to justify our actions.

Each person interprets and fashions their life by choosing actions. Your astrology chart illuminates the parameters of your life. And fate? Fate is elastic.

Strange weather and interesting stars

Good morning. On the East Coast we have high temperatures and haze...just like summer. I like to watch the weather patterns as sometimes they reflect the movement of the planets. This is a dramatic time. We are moving towards an astrologically tense period at the end of April.

Does this mean we should all quake in our shoes and curse the stars? NO. It means to keep flexible, observe yourself and others' behaviour and find something that you enjoy. Ice cream counts.

Specifically, yesterday Saturn went retrograde and on Tuesday Pluto went retrograde. All the planets (not the Sun and Moon) move retrograde during the year. This means that from the earth the planets' orbit appears to move backwards. In our daily lives it often means that we have to look at how we expend our power and organize our lives.

I will update this blog and you can also follow me on Twitter at twitter.com/stellastarguide

Look forward to speaking with you on The Broads, XmSirius 102, this Friday, April 9
